Construction Trades
Montana's construction industry, which facilitates the building of infrastructure and residential and commercial structures, has experienced rapid growth, driven by increases in the state's population and economy. To meet construction demand, good jobs that pay above the statewide average annual wage are being added every year — 7,000 since 2019 — and the Montana Department of Labor & Industry estimates 3,700 annual construction job openings over the next 10 years. Workforce training and efforts to recruit, train, upskill and retain construction workers will be critical to ensure the industry continues to meet Montana's housing, building, energy, and transportation needs.
